What Really Matters In Life

I believe the most valuable treasure we can have in life is personal relationship with the Almighty.

Our ultimate reward is not a place or a pleasure, but a Person—God Himself.

He is love, life, and light. To know the true love, to live the true life, and to walk in the true light, we must seek no other sources but Him.

People–including spouses, partners, kids, parents, friends, best friends, our ‘everything’—may/can/will disappoint because we, humans, are not perfect. We simply cannot please everyone, can we? We are all different, aren’t we? By nature, we all care about our own interests first and foremost—agree?

Pleasures and riches of this world will never satisfy our deepest longings. We are designed to want more, to need more, to seek more, and that’s how we grow. But this constant craving can ultimately be fulfilled by the self-sufficient One.

Jesus taught that seeking God’s kingdom and His righteousness is to be our first and foremost priority before anything else (Matthew 6:33) and asserted that following Him requires selfless commitment and active faith (Matthew 16:24) as well as total devotion and undivided attention to Him (Luke 14:26).

Believing Jesus costs nothing, but following Him costs everything. It all makes sense because the reward is great—God Himself. Is not He worthy of it all? All our lives, our efforts, our dreams, our hopes—all!

There is no greater freedom than the freedom of living for the greatest Cause of all, the freedom of living in accord with the will of our Maker, the freedom of living a life that is lived by God Himself. This, I believe, is the most satisfying, fulfilling, and rewarding way to live!

Therefore, it is vital for us to know God personally and to realize our purpose in Him. Don’t let anyone to get in the way between you and Him and drag you away from fulfilling the purpose He has for you!

After all, we live for and before the Audience of One and each of us will give an account of ourselves to Him (Romans 14:11-13).

Praise be to God that He not only has shown us the way to Him, but also how humanity can have a meaningful life—filled with purpose—in Him. And even more, He has reached out to us and demonstrated His love for us—sinful, needy, and broken people—by giving up His life on the cross, and revealed His power by overcoming the death and coming back to life.

In Christ Jesus and through Him alone each of us who believes can have a personal, fulfilling, and transforming relationship with the Almighty God—the Creator of the universe, the Life Giver, and the Sustainer of all things.

God spoke many times and in many ways to our ancestors through the prophets long ago. And now in these final days, He has spoken to us through His Son. God promised everything to the Son as an inheritance, and through the Son He created the universe. The Son radiates God’s own glory and expresses the very character of God, and He sustains everything by the mighty power of His command [word].

Hebrews 1:1-3

So, in life, what really matters is determined by who really matters. My Christian faith, founded in the Holy Word of God, testifies that God is the One who really [and ultimately] matters in life, therefore my personal relationship with Him is what really matters in the end.

Heaven and earth will pass away, but My words will by no means pass away.

Matthew 24:35
