How Fast Can Jesus Travel?

Jesus Christ has uniquely claimed Himself as the Light of the world (as recorded in John 8:12).

If He is Light, how fast can He travel?

Scientists believe that the speed of light is approximately 300,000 km/s. Can Jesus travel at the speed of light?

Well, to put into perspective, I would use the following analogy: the distance between Vancouver (the city where I lived in) and Jakarta (the capital of my home country, Indonesia) is 13,328 km (according to a quick Google search). Now, if I were able to travel at the speed of light, that means I could go back and forth almost 23 times in a second between Vancouver and Jakarta. Another perspective: the moon is approximately 384,400 km away from the earth. Hence, with the speed of light, we will be able to reach the moon in just over a second. (I wish I could have such a teleporting ability! No flight expenses.)

I have always been wondering if we would ever have such an amazing technology in the future, where people can travel across space, distance, and time instantly. (It would be cool to witness that in our lifetime!)

However, even if human teleportation really happens, I won’t be so surprised because, a long time ago, a man by the name of Jesus from Nazareth had already experienced it.

After Jesus died and resurrected, He no longer lived with just a natural body, but instead a spiritual, glorified body. According to the Scriptures, this body has the following characteristics: made up of flesh and bone (Luke 24:39John 20:27), recognizable (Luke 24:36-37John 20:19-20), incorruptible (1 Corinthians 15:42-4353-54), predominated by the Spirit (1 Corinthians 15:44, 49), and unlimited by time and space (Luke 24:3151) which we ourselves, as Christ’s believers, will also one day receive on the day of resurrection.

With this supernatural body, Jesus was able to travel instantly during His post-resurrection appearances, (such as those recorded in Luke 24:28-31, 35-37; John 20:19-20, 26-27). The same powerful body also allows Jesus to ascend to heaven (Luke 24:50-51, Acts 1:9).

So, the next time you see people teleport and fly, you could say, “Jesus has done it!”

It is no exaggeration to say that Jesus Christ, the Light of the world, is more than capable of travelling at the speed of light!

By the way, there are a few other names recorded in the Bible who also experienced such a miraculous transportation, such as Philip (Acts 8:26-40), Elijah (2 Kings 2:1-10), Enoch (Genesis 5:24, Hebrews 11:5).

Do you want to be the next one? I do! 🙂

Anyway, regardless of whether or not teleportation technology will exist in the future, Christians have this comforting hope that, at Christ’s second coming, we who remain alive will be caught up (raptured) with the resurrected believers in the clouds to meet our Savior in the air and be with Him forever (1 Thessalonians 4:13-18). Looking forward to that glorious day!
